History: Katrina Turie, or Madame Blood, as she is commonly referred to today, was a sadistic eccentric living out in the outer reaches of what is now Boulder City a hundred years ago. Along with her fascination for the occult, she had a morbid fascination with the inner workings of the human body. Which could have been a good thing had she opted to work for the betterment of mankind as a nurse or some such thing.
A century ago, Madame was a wealthy socialite residing in St. Francessville, La.
A high ranking member in the inner circles of high society at New Orleans. But Time passed, communications grew more efficient, and Louisiana's predominance as a major port of trade began to diminish. With out such prominence to cover her tracks, People grew suspicious of her decreased outtings... and the disappearance of children that seemed a little too coincidental in timing. Not to say Madame didn't still have contacts... she was forewarned about a mob forming to come after her. Madame fled out west, to the harsh wilderness outside the small railroad stop of Las Vegas. She had foreseen a general rise in prosperity to the area, but she would be the lone source of true civilization in the wilderness for hundreds of miles. She opted to live generally as a recluse in an area that wouldn't be settled for another 30 years. Katrina truly had a lavish mansion built on winnings from days of riverboat gambling in the New Orleans vicinity, and people would come from miles and miles to attend her parties.
On her own time, however, Madame made excursions into the nearest civilization where under the cover of darkness, she would often abduct children with no regard for race, white or Indian, for her ghoulish experiments.
Soon, Las Vegas became a haven for saloons and prostitutes sprang up at a railroad stop 30 miles away. Madame detested the rough and tumble mannerisms of so many of the workers, and deemed her own mansion a sanctuary. An oasis of sorts for those with any class left in them. Her parties were the talk of the town, but in small communities, tongues wag, and it wasn't long before the occasional excursions of Katrina Turie were again paired with the timing of missing children. This time Madame had no loyal ground work to fall back on as a warning system.
But it wasn't until one escaped telling his horrid tale of Madame's bizarre experiments that a mob formed lead by one Samuel Prydeman to put an end to her madness.
Madame was caught literally red handed in her bizarre get-up she wore when performing some of her occult and medical atrocities. Katrina was dragged kicking and screaming into the barn where she was tied to a support post, a good amount of hay and sticks were piled around it as Prydeman, the local magistrate, held an impromptu trial to fulfill the technicality. All present, of course found her guilty. Samuel Prydeman delivered the verdict of guilty and sentenced Madame Katrina Turie to be burned at the stake in the old tradition of what was done to witches in days gone by.
Madame didn't go quietly, however, swearing vengeance on those who condemned her as the flames rose licking her flesh.
Those involved eventually dispersed, not a one remaining in what is now southern Nevada.
As the years rolled on, Boulder City sprang up as a settlement for the Dam workers, and the legend lived on with Madame serving as first a boogieman of sorts that mothers would warn their little children about to keep them in line. And eventually Madame Blood entered folklore as a mirror witch. Speak her name three times in a mirror under a blood moon and she will appearer to you.
The old house still stands, various attempts at renovation were attempted until the mid 50's when it was boarded up and left to the elements.
Sample Post: "Katrina Turrie, you stand accused of the most heinous crime of witchcraft. Of concocting with the devil himself. Of making a pact with the very foul being to cause havoc and mayhem in this community of Las Vegas. And consorting with your Hellfire Coven, to upset the very laws of this godly land. Katrina Turrie, you stand accused in the service of your master, the devil, of abduction and murder of Innocent children... HOW DO YOU PLEAD?!"
"This trial is a farce and a lie..." Katrina begins . Almost immediately the judge's gavel, a hastily grabbed horseshoe hammer, bangs resoundingly on the bench to silence her.
"You will respect this court, witch, or forfeit your last hope of salvation in this mortal world!" The judge roars.
"This court is a mere formality." Katrina shoots back. none escape the wrath of the mighty Judge Prydeman!" She spits despite the gavel's protest. "I bring a passion and life to the men of this settlement, and when they are uncovered, rather than dealing with it like men they point the finger at me, saying I bewitched them! Your children wander and are lost in the deep woods, and I, having already seduced your men am the natural target for your accusations!"
"HANG HER!" the crowd within and flowing outside the court house cries.
Judge Prydeman bangs the gavel until it breaks. An omen perhaps? Would justice be defeated this day? "NEVER!" She cries. In Katrina's eyes Judge Kathrine Prydeman sees an unholy glow. "All here know the evil this woman has perpetrated! It is this judgment that I lay that Katrina Turrie be not hanged..." the crowd roars it's disapproval. "But BURNED rather at the stake! That the fires of Hell may more readily claim her!"
The scene shifts Kitty is now dressed in the Madame Blood attire and bound to the stake. "With this flame, Kathrine Pryde, also known as Madame Blood, we condem you to Hell!" Judge Turrie sneers as the torch is thrust into the dry brush at the base of the wood. As the flames pickup licking her body, she also stands there as the judge, holding up a mirror to further torment the burning woman with the sight of her own predicament.
"Mark my words, Prydeman!" the burning woman calls out to Prydeman. "This is far from over! I SHALL return! I swear by my blood spilled this Hallo'een night!" She cries out as the fire chews through the rope that binds her hands, her arm shoots out with a snap splattering blood on the mirror and the judge as the flames finally consume her flesh.
